I couldn't update sooner the blog, but I'd been working on the project in my free time, so here's the initial planning:
My goal is a stylized diorama where I can experiment with some paint-like textures.
For the mood, I really liked these references:
The foggy mood was something that was really interesting and I clicked with it.
Also, I have some references for the buildings I want:
My blocking was made with really simple shapes. I needed a better understanding of how many buildings I wanted and where they should be placed. For now, the lighting is the default from Unreal. The only thing tweaked was the fog. It's always open to adjustments.
Then, I created a simple terrain material, modeled some grass, and created a simple water shader to see if it passed the vibe check. And it did.
This week is all about modeling. I'll post more soon!
