Hey,
I am starting with this Prayer wheel. A prayer wheel is a cylindrical wheel for Buddhist recitation. The first step is collecting References about the shape and size of the prop. When I saw this prop, what I liked about it was the details and the aging. It depicts a story of how it was used and stored. Will add some more details in it too.

The next step is Blocking. It is the main part at the start of a prop. I usually do blocking in steps, the first step consists of only primary details the basic shape and size & next step consists of detailed blocking which allows me to calculate/ set proportions of each element. The proportions used in this prop are taken from the internet and slightly changed to improve the look and feel. One of the best ways is to use a mannequin to check the size in real life. After this, I am ready to start making details with sub-divisions.

After blocking out my whole prop, I head over to make the sub-div mesh or Midpoly. I added supporting edges to the part like wood and metal cylinder. I also modeled the major engravings & will add some minute detailed engraving in sculpting. The reason for modeling these engraving is to match the model with the reference. Now, I will start sculpting the details.
