For this challenge, I've decided to make an object from the mythology of Lord Shiva, the Trishula.
In, Hinduism, Mount Kailash which is one the highest points of the Himalayas is said to be the abode of Lord Shiva and his family. Shiva's trident, or trishula, isn't just a weapon, it also symbolizes his control over the physical, mental, and spiritual realms. Its an important part of his identity.
I recently have been reading The Shiva Trilogy book series by an amazing Indian author called Amish Tripathi which takes the myth of lord shiva and presents a completely fictional story with it. For this prop, i got inspired to do the same.
The backstory for the prop -
The Trishula was made by the devotees of lord shiva a long long time ago when he lived as a man amongst them as a way to honor him. This was made when he ascended to becoming a deity at the end of his life. They made a Trishula of gold, almost 6ft tall, a damru attached to it along with a rudraksh hanging on it. It's wrapped in a cloth inside a stone box with scrolls of stories and poems of his life buried in a secret location in the depths of the snowy Mount Kailash.
In the modern world, it is one of the most sort after artifacts from ancient times.
Mount Kailash is located in Tibet but the design prop itself is inspired by art and culture from the regions of kashmir, Nepal but mainly Tibet itself. Lord Shiva is not only worshipped in Hinduism, but also in Tibetan Buddhism.
